A couple of days after the closing of Bill Heard Chevrolet in Plant City all employees were told they had to remove all of their personal items by the next day.
The service technicians usually have their own tools and it’s usually not something you can fit in a trunk of a car. That day it was absolute chaos with ramp trucks, pick-up trucks and cargo trailers pulling in by the dozens.
By the time the dust settled there were 2 golf carts missing and an $8,000 lawn mower they had purchased to save money on landscaping expenses during the last few struggling months.
Once Bill Heard officials looked into it further they found all of their expensive vehicle diagnostic equipment was stolen as well. They called all of their former employees and told them “Bring back whatever you stole by tomorrow and you will not be prosecuted”.
The diagnostic equipment did show up the next day along with many other items they hadn’t realized were gone yet. One former employee said “I was surprised at the guys who stole the stuff. I never thought it was them for a minute”.
The 2 golf carts and the mower are still missing!
